The hill: where the condensate goes decides where the boiler goes
The terraces on Leigh's hillside streets were built on a slope and it shows inside: half-landings, split levels, kitchens dug into the back of the hill, gardens a storey below the front door. A modern condensing boiler produces condensate that has to drain away with a continuous fall — and on a split-level plot, the obvious boiler position and the workable drain position are often not the same place.

The old town poses the opposite problem. That changes how we plan the job. The flue is the other constraint: on a constrained frontage in a conservation area there are fewer places a terminal can sensibly and legally go, so we work out the termination position at the survey rather than improvising on the day. Where a frontage genuinely can't take a terminal, we'll say so and design around it — a different wall, a vertical flue through the roof slope, or a repositioned boiler.
